From permitting and financing of energy infrastructure projects, to renewable and net metered generation facilities, Eli Emerson has the world of energy law covered. Regulated entities call upon Eli to obtain approval of wholesale and retail rates and approval for bonds and other financing. He has worked with utilities to design and gain approval of smart grid and advanced metering plans. He counsels clients on all aspects of power supply acquisition, including negotiating power purchase agreements and navigating wholesale markets. With a strong focus on public entity development, Eli has significant experience working within the laws and rules that are applicable to municipal and other publicly-owned organizations. Some of his more notable accomplishments include securing certificate of public good for a 40 MW biodiesel peaking generation plant in Swanton, Vermont; obtaining regulatory approval for a major utility Smart Grid implementation plan; and advising investor-owned, municipal and cooperative utilities on impact of Dodd-Frank regulations.
