Jon Eggleston is recognized as one of Vermont’s leading authorities in federal, state and local tax issues including estate and international tax law. He has represented before the Internal Revenue Service, the Vermont Department of Taxes, and in such Courts as the U.S. Tax Court, the U.S. Claims Court, the Federal District Courts, Federal Appeals Courts and Vermont state Courts, including the Vermont Supreme Court. He began his career more than 40 years ago as one of the first two law clerks at the Vermont Supreme Court. He subsequently served as a trial attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice before returning to private practice in Vermont.

Throughout the years, clients have sought Jon’s advice in estate planning and estate matters involving tax issues. His expertise includes international tax matters stemming from U.S. taxation of its citizens on a worldwide basis.

Jon is a former president of the Vermont Bar Association where he has continued to be active, most recently serving for the second time on the committee of the Bar which recently rewrote the limited liability company act in Vermont.
