Appellate

Experience is important when pursuing an appeal. As a group we have handled over 200 appeals to the Vermont and New Hampshire Supreme Courts in such areas as real estate, public utility, environmental, family, insurance, tort and commercial litigation. In addition, we regularly handle appeals in the federal system and our appellate attorneys are licensed to appear in the First, Second, Third, Fifth, Sixth, Ninth and Tenth Circuit Courts of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. In addition to handling regular appeals in the federal courts, our attorneys have unique and extensive experience handling less common aspects of federal appellate litigation, including amicus curiae briefs before the Circuit Courts and United States Supreme Court, and Petitions for Certiorari and Oppositions to Petitions for Certiorari to the United States Supreme Court.

The firm created its appellate group to provide perspective that is different than that offered by trial counsel to firm clients and to lawyers with outside appellate referrals. When retained by outside counsel, we take our respective practice knowledge and prior appellate experience and put it to work in a way that benefits your client. When the appeal is over, we return the client to you.
