Our History

Our firm has grown from a three-person boutique firm in St. Johnsbury, Vermont in 1982 to more than 40 attorneys in six offices in New England and Washington, D.C. today. The firm’s steady growth is a testimony to the caliber of our people and the long-term relationships that we have forged with our clients. We are proud of our ability to attract and retain exceptional attorneys, paralegals, other professionals,  and support staff. Many of our attorneys are leaders in their state bar associations, sought-after speakers, fellows in invitation-only professional organizations, and/or have been recognized by regional and national awards.

Long-term Client Relationships

We are focused on more than a quick solution based on a client’s immediate need. Our law firm establishes long-term client relationships to partner in the pursuit of short-term goals as well as long-term objectives.  Our relationships with clients are based on outstanding work, close collaboration, and value. Our client teams bring together attorneys, paralegals, specialists, support staff and technology in the most cost-effective and efficient way possible to achieve the desired result.

Local, Regional & National Connections

Our attorneys have run corporations, held public office, headed commissions, argued before state Supreme Courts, completed prestigious clerkships, and the list goes on. Our attorneys have a deep understanding of the environments in which our clients operate and the experience and connections necessary to resolve client issues efficiently.

State-of-the-Art Security

We have invested in leading-edge technology to maintain the security and confidentiality of attorney-client communications. We continuously upgrade our cybersecurity and have disaster systems in place to keep operations running smoothly and protect electronic communications. Data is stored at a certified data center for maximum security, and we contract with outside agencies to audit our network safety on a regular basis.
