Michael T. Durkin
As a member of the firm’s Litigation group, Chris’ practice focuses on civil litigation matters including insurance coverage disputes, insurance defense, and business and commercial disputes.
Prior to joining Primmer, Chris served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Judge Joelle Hitch, a Family Court Judge in Wilmington, Delaware. There, Chris attended court regularly and assisted Judge Hitch by drafting court orders and legal memorandums. Moving to Vermont, Chris began working in insurance law. He gained experience with workers’ compensation and personal injury cases. He also advocated for client claims, helping people receive due benefits for workplace and non-workplace injuries.
In 2024, Chris’ practice migrated to insurance coverage. Working in Chittenden County, Chris drafted numerous coverage opinions primarily analyzing commercial general liability policies, business automobile policies, and professional liability policies. He also performed extensive research on the insurer’s duty to defend, bad faith failure to settle, and bad faith denial of benefits.
Today, Chris continues his work in insurance coverage law, while also maintaining a practice focused on other types of litigation, including business and commercial disputes, and bankruptcy law.
