AG Food Drive Raises Donations for 4 Towns
Recently, the Vermont Attorney General's office challenged the legal community to raise donations of canned goods and diapers for the local food shelves throughout the state. We were thrilled to participate, and soon saw the donations from attorneys and staff start to roll in and pile up.
In a weeks' time, the firm collected canned vegetables, fruits, beans, meat and beans as well as pasta, peanut butter, baking essentials, spices and lots of other pantry staples. The firm also collected 17 cases of diapers in sizes from newborn to size 6. In total, we were able to donate 276 items (including the cases of diapers) to local food distribution organizations.
Having taken a poll among donating employees of where to drop off the goods, the firm decided to distribute the load among four area towns: Burlington, Winooski, St. Albans and Williston. Our thanks to the Attorney General Charity Clark's office for the challenge that was set, and the support to do the food drive.
Overall, the statewide drive was a success. During the 2024 food drive, professionals across the Vermont legal community all together raised $15,193, which will supply more than $62,900 worth of food to Vermonters. All funds donated went directly to the important work of the Vermont Foodbank. Over 1,300 items including food, diapers, and other donations were brought to local food shelves or meal sites partnered with the Vermont Foodbank. In the eight-year history of the food drive, the Vermont legal community has raised more than $85,000 and collected over 13,000 items.
