On Saturday, June 7th, The New Hampshire Bar Association held its annual meeting, “Charting a Course for Justice”. The yearly event regularly recognizes standouts in the legal field for professionalism, distinguished service and commitment to justice.
Primmer Piper Eggleston & Cramer attorney, L. Jonathan Ross was recognized at this year’s event with a Certificate of Appreciation from the New Hampshire Supreme Court. The Certificate highlights Attorney Ross’ work with the NH Access to Justice Commission to offer and promote a new and free legal resource for the public.
The resource, “NH Free Legal Answers” is a program where members of the public can request brief advice and counsel about specific New Hampshire civil legal issues from volunteer lawyers. Lawyers provide information and basic legal advice pro bono, without any expectation of long-term representation. This new program, unlike any before it, was the result of the NH Supreme Court amending a rule on conflicts to be able to bring this to fruition.
Of the program, Managing Director, Shireen Hart said, “Over the course of his career, Jon has been a steadfast champion for equal access to justice at both the national and state levels, shaping policies and inspiring generations of attorneys to prioritize public service and equal access to justice. We are pleased to see Jon recognized by the New Hampshire Supreme Court for his significant contributions to establishing and supporting the NH Free Legal Answers program.”
Attorney Ross reports that, to date, about 450,000 questions have been answered by volunteer attorneys across the United States in the program. Ross, himself, has answered about 140 so far. For more information, please visit: https://nh.freelegalanswers.org/
