Primmer, Piper, Eggleston & Cramer is pleased to announce that Attorney Ryan Long was recently graduated from the Lake Champlain Chamber’s Leadership Champlain program last week.

Leadership Champlain is a professional development and community engagement program run by the Lake Champlain Chamber, with a mission to foster growth and leadership in influencers and decision makers, who will serve our community now and in the future.

Ryan's program project was to work as part of 5-person team to support Champlain Valley Head Start. Over the 10 months, the team worked to build a solid, strategic communication network for the organization, with the goal of increasing enrollment in their home learning resource program. Whereas Champlain Valley Head Start is well-known for their in-person programs, the organization was struggling with awareness of its ‘from-home’ remotely accessed program for young children. Ryan’s group identified that CVHS did not have a strong, verified network of partner organizations to help distribute messaging. They went to work reaching out to child service organizations such as pediatricians and day cares, compiling a list, verifying contacts to build this essential resource for Head Start.

Ryan says of the experience, “I would encourage any young associate to engage in the Leadership Champlain Program. In addition to the richness of the program, it is an opportunity to get out and network with young professionals in the community who are also on track to be leaders in their own professions. Just by working as a team within your cohort, you’ll make important career connections.”

Leadership Champlain consists of retreats, full-day seminars, service projects, discussion groups and community tours from September to June. Participants meet monthly to explore critical community issues, examine themselves as leaders, and build relationships of trust and understanding.
